Please plan to join us next year! The Games are held annually on the first Saturday in October.

Lots of folks tell us that our friendly Gathering is their favorite event of the whole year. Our beautiful site at Highlands Park in Ben Lomond features grassy meadows nestled amongst redwoods and oaks, and the fall weather provides a perfect day to enjoy outdoors.

Welcome to the Seaside Highland Games!
Join us Oct. 8 - 10, 2010, to see

The premier Scottish Event on the Central California Coast

We are excited to bring to you this great Scottish/Celtic Festival:

Who: Seaside HIghland Games

Where: Seaside Park in beautiful Ventura County, California
Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W Harbor Blvd, Ventura

When: October 8, 9 & 10, 2010
            9:00 am til 5:00 pm

What you'll experience:

We hope we have included all the information you need to persuade you to join us on the field the second full weekend of each October.  If you don't find answers to your specific questions, please feel free to contact us through our "Contact Us" page.  The Festival atmosphere will transport you to the Scotland of yesterday and of today and will lay before you the music, dance, games, food and drink of that great culture.  Please come and enjoy!

While the 2009 Seaside Highland Games are now but a pleasant memory you may still relive the fun and excitement by wearing the official 2009 Seaside Highland Games T-Shirt and lapel pin! Memoriabilia items such as these may be purchased by visiting our newly established "Mercantile" page and following the instructions therein. AND we still have a few of the 2007, 2008 & 2009 shirts and lapel pins available too!

We are pleased to say that our inaugural Saturday night Scottish Rock Fest was a rousing success! The grounds were open for a few hours to enable the more adventurous of us to attend a concert being held at the Celtic Rock Stage at the far end of Main Street (Clan Row). It was a brilliant good time for about 3 hours.

And, finally, please visit us often as we are constantly updating the information contained in our website. As news breaks, so it is printed here or on my personal Blog.

Yours aye,

John E. Lowry

State of the Games

It seems that every time we turn on the TV, somebody is talking about the current economic downturn. The effects of our communal economic situation are being felt everywhere, including here at the Campbell Highland Games. While we would love to be able say that the Campbell Games will go on as usual this year (and for a while we thought they would), we have been forced to the very difficult decision to defer this year’s games until 2010. In the meantime we will be actively soliciting sponsorships, rebuilding our infrastructure, and holding fundraising events like ceilidhs, concerts and other types of events so we can regain economic stability and return in full swing next year.

The idea is to stay in the public eye, continue to have events and to let people know that we are fundraising for 2010 games. Currently planned events include a ceilidh on April 4 (details on our web site), pouring beer at the Campbell “Boogie on the Bayou”, a Highland Dance competition and Celtic Concert on June 20th followed by the Kirkin' o' the Tartans at Pyresbyterian Church of Los Gatos on the morning of the 21st, and the “Brew-Ha-Ha” (you’re just going to have to wonder what that is until we announce it). The Business Plan we’re putting together to get ourselves back on-track looks very positive.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to help out on short-term projects and any of the events mentioned above sound like fun, please contact us at

Presents...

COMING IN 2010!

September 4 & 5, 2010
The Caledonian Club Of San Francisco
Presents the 145th:

Scottish Highland Gathering & Games!

The 144th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games, held this past Labor Day weekend, was a major success. The Pipes & Drums - 1st Battalion Scots Guards from Buckingham Palace in London added additional pageantry to the Games and their interplaying with the 45-member U.S. Marine Band San Diego was indeed exciting.

The 35th Invitational Heavy Events Championship and World Hammer Championship drew the world’s top athletes. The Highland Dancing Championships, 28 pipe bands in competition from the U.S. and Canada, Living History, Celtic Heritage, 77 clan and society tents, sheep dog trails, six stages of continuous entertainment, soccer, rugby and Shinty, Whisky Live at the Games and many other entities within the giant Alameda County Fairgrounds provided plenty of excitement for our valued patrons.

Tickets for the 2010 Gathering and Games go on sale after March 1, 2010. Be sure to check in with this website and obtain your tickets, at a pre-games discount.

See you in Pleasanton next Labor Day weekend!

PHOTOS: The Friday night "March Under the Arch" in downtown Pleasanton featured both the Scots Guards and the Marine band as a preview to the Labor Day weekend event.

1st Battalion Scots Guards
The Scots Guards will be making their only west coast appearance at our 144th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games. . Steeped in history, the Royal Regiment of Scots Guards were formed in 1642 as the personal body guards for the King of England, Charles I. Their colorful and intricate uniforms set them apart from other regiments that also patrol Buckingham Palace. One of the most anticipated aspects at the games is the marshalling of both the Scots Guards and the U.S. Marine Corps bands in mixed formation, playing simultaneously in concert in front of the grandstands both days of the Games. The Pleasanton venue is one the few in the world that marshals both British and American bands together in concert.

Hey Everybody,
The new Clan badges are here...And they look great!

I would like to get $22.00 plus shipping for each badge. I want to contribute $1.00 (One Dollar) from the sale of each badge to the Scorrybreac Fund to maintain the Clan lands on Skye. Even with that, the price of each badge is in line with what you find for sale at Highland Games, I think.

Postage runs about $2.20 for one badge. It would be $4.75 for 4 badges

I'm not set up to take Credit or Debit Cards. I would need a check or money order for each order of badges. You can mail me your requests (or email me your request, or questions). My mailing address is:
