The Seaside Highland Game operates as a not for profit 501(c)(3) with officers and a board of directors. It has no paid employees and is dedicated solely to bringing the life and culture of Scotland to those who attend and to educate the youth of California's Central Coast in living as people once did in a land so very far away called Scotland.

State of the Games It seems that every time we turn on the TV, somebody is talking about the current economic downturn. The effects of our communal economic situation are being felt everywhere, including here at the Campbell Highland Games. While we would love to be able say that the Campbell Games will go on as usual this year (and for a while we thought they would), we have been forced to the very difficult decision to defer this year’s games until 2010. In the meantime we will be actively soliciting sponsorships, rebuilding our infrastructure, and holding fundraising events like ceilidhs, concerts and other types of events so we can regain economic stability and return in full swing next year.
The idea is to stay in the public eye, continue to have events and to let people know that we are fundraising for 2010 games. Currently planned events include a ceilidh on April 4 (details on our web site), pouring beer at the Campbell “Boogie on the Bayou”, a Highland Dance competition and Celtic Concert on June 20th followed by the Kirkin' o' the Tartans at Pyresbyterian Church of Los Gatos on the morning of the 21st, and the “Brew-Ha-Ha” (you’re just going to have to wonder what that is until we announce it). The Business Plan we’re putting together to get ourselves back on-track looks very positive.
If you’re the kind of person who likes to help out on short-term projects and any of the events mentioned above sound like fun, please contact us at info@campbellgames.com

Scottish Highland Gathering & Games!

The 144th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games, held this past Labor Day weekend, was a major success. The Pipes & Drums - 1st Battalion Scots Guards from Buckingham Palace in London added additional pageantry to the Games and their interplaying with the 45-member U.S. Marine Band San Diego was indeed exciting.
The 35th Invitational Heavy Events Championship and World Hammer Championship drew the world’s top athletes. The Highland Dancing Championships, 28 pipe bands in competition from the U.S. and Canada, Living History, Celtic Heritage, 77 clan and society tents, sheep dog trails, six stages of continuous entertainment, soccer, rugby and Shinty, Whisky Live at the Games and many other entities within the giant Alameda County Fairgrounds provided plenty of excitement for our valued patrons.
Tickets for the 2010 Gathering and Games go on sale after March 1, 2010. Be sure to check in with this website and obtain your tickets, at a pre-games discount.
See you in Pleasanton next Labor Day weekend!
PHOTOS: The Friday night "March Under the Arch" in downtown Pleasanton featured both the Scots Guards and the Marine band as a preview to the Labor Day weekend event. |

Old on the left, New on the right Hey Everybody, The new Clan badges are here...And they look great!
I would like to get $22.00 plus shipping for each badge. I want to contribute $1.00 (One Dollar) from the sale of each badge to the Scorrybreac Fund to maintain the Clan lands on Skye. Even with that, the price of each badge is in line with what you find for sale at Highland Games, I think.
Postage runs about $3.70 for one badge. I am set up to take Pay Pal. I could take a check or money order for each order of badges. You can mail me your requests (or email me your request, and/or questions).
